Independent consultancy to Higher and Further Education and Research

About us

The company has two directors, Jon Duke and Andy Jordan.  Andy and Jon started working together as cooperating sole traders in 2002 and in 2006 they formalised and extended their arrangements for working together by forming Duke and Jordan Ltd.  Since the formation of the company a majority of the pieces of work carried out has involved collaborations with other organisations and individual consultants.

Before working as consultants each of them had careers in universities.  Both had been directors of University computing services, Andy at Huddersfield and Jon at the University of Leeds.  The first time they worked together was in 1997 - 1998 in the project, led by Jon, to develop the Yorkshire and Humberside Metropolitan Area Network YHMAN.  This was a major shared services undertaking involving all eight of the universities in the region at that time.  A company was set up to oversee the operation of the service which itself rapidly expanded to include all the FE institutions in the region.  Since then this successful collaboration has been exploited to both continue to upgrade the network itself and to branch out into other activities such as a networked joint high performance computing facility.

Andy and Jon have also worked together as senior elected officers of the representative organisation for directors of University computing services, UCISA.
